FAQ's

Does waxing hurt?
Yep. It really depends on your own personal pain tolerance - but I offer a brazilian service with pre-wax numbing treatment for those that want as little "discomfort" as possible.  It takes about fifteen minutes to take effect, so remember to include it when scheduling an appointment.

How long should my hair be for waxing?
About 3 weeks growth (1/4" long) is perfect.  Yes, I know this seems like an eternity to wait, but for the best results it's worth it.  If your hair is too short the wax won't be able to remove it, if it's too long it may be more painful. So, if it's been awhile since you've waxed, shaved, or it's your first time waxing, you can get the right length by using trimmers with a guard.

How often do I have to get waxed?
It really depends on the area being waxed.  Everything above the belt is about every two weeks, everything below about every four weeks.

How long does a brazilian wax take to get done?
The first time takes anywhere from 15-45 minutes depending on various factors.  Every time after that it will take only 15-25 minutes if you are getting waxed every four weeks.

Is there anything I need to do to prepare for a wax?
First read the contraindications on the waxing tab before scheduling an appointment!  While keeping your skin moisturized with lotions etc. is great, please try not to apply the day of waxing, it makes it difficult for the wax to adhere to the hair.  Make sure the area to be waxed is clean but avoid long baths or showers right before your appointment as this can cause the hair to break instead of being removed.  If you're a first-time waxer and getting body-waxing done, wear or bring loose clothing to put on afterwards as your skin will be sensitive, you may also take a couple ibuprofen (if it's not contraindicated for you) before your appointment.

What about after-care?
For the next 24-48 hours you should not: go tanning, go work out, manually exfoliate, go swimming or in a hot tub.  I strongly recommend including take-home aftercare with your service, it helps to prevent ingrown hair and blemishes.

I'm pregnant, can I still get waxed?
Absolutely!  You can be waxed right up until about a week before your due date as long as you're not restricted by your health care provider.

Can I bring a friend?
You sure can, they are more than welcome to wait in the reception area.  I do not allow friends in the room while you get your service done - the whole "three's a crowd" thing you know?  Also, obviously for insurance purposes.

Can I bring my kids?
Due to insurance purposes I can only allow the person receiving services in the treatment room, so no kiddos.

What kind of wax do you use?
It's a secret.  Just kidding - I use the best hard and soft wax depending on the area to be waxed, hair type, condition of skin etc.

Will my hair be all jacked up after a facial?
Most likely.  I wrap your hair, so if you're planning a hot date I recommend either:  scheduling a day before said hot date or just ride it out and see how hot date handles it (could be a good way to see if they're a keeper).

Will I get ingrown hair from waxing?
You might.  Unfortunately there are just no guarantees with the human body - some people are extremely prone to them, some people aren't.  Sometimes you get them in the summer, the winter, when it rains, when it's foggy, when you take a left turn etc. you get the picture.  Waxing forcibly removes the hair from the skin and can sometimes make the hair regrow wonky.  Some people only need to lightly exfoliate regularly and moisturize, some need an extra strength product for harder to treat blemishes.  Often you only need a good aftercare product to help prevent them from ever making an appearance, so I strongly recommend an ingrown product for most people to get the best results.

I have a special occasion, how far in advance should I schedule?
I recommend 2-3 days prior.

Do you offer sugaring?
Nope, I use wax - hence the name "Waxology".
